Best Golf Trip Scoring Apps (2026): An Honest Comparison
Last checked: October 18, 2026
Disclosure: Sunday Singles is our app. It's built by a golf trip commissioner for their own group, and it's one of the apps on this list, so weigh our view accordingly. We've tried to write the page we'd want to read: what each app actually says it does, where the others beat us, and who should pick what.
This page is for the commissioner choosing a scoring app for a multi-day buddy trip or a trip tournament. That usually means 8 to 40 golfers, a few rounds, a Ryder Cup-style team match or a stroke-play leaderboard, and skins or side bets running alongside. Trip planners and booking tools do a different job, so they aren't here.
How we judged: on October 18, 2026we read each vendor's own website, help docs and App Store listing. We only credit a feature the vendor states. "Not listed" means we couldn't confirm it, not that it's missing. We don't score or rank the apps, and there are no affiliate links. Spot an error? Email sundaysinglesgolf@gmail.comand we'll fix it.

The apps
Sunday Singles (ours)
Sunday Singles is a no-download golf trip app for buddy trips, from Ryder Cup-style matches to stroke-play tournaments. Gus, our AI setup assistant (in beta), sets up players, rounds and tee times by chat and turns a scorecard photo into a course. Auto-Fill builds pairings and tee times balanced by handicap, by standings, at random or with new partners each round. Scoring allocates handicap strokes from each player's own tee, works offline and feeds the live and TV leaderboards. Run six Ryder Cup match formats with a live team draft, or a stroke-play, Stableford, best ball or scramble leaderboard, plus skins, KP and who-owes-who settlement. The limits: it's a web app, not a native one. There's no GPS and no GHIN or Golf Canada handicap sync (you enter each index or import a roster), self-serve trips top out at 80 players and 10 rounds, and we're newer and smaller than the big names.
Pick it if you want AI to handle the setup, match-play and net scoring worked out for you, and the draft, TV board and settle-up run from one link.

Squabbit
Squabbit is the biggest free option here. It has 30+ formats including multi-round Ryder Cups, a free AI setup assistant that builds the event by chat, and a web version where players score without a download or account. It also has native apps with GPS plus Apple Watch and Wear OS, offline saving, WHS handicap integration, and settle-up for side bets and shared expenses. Squabbit says more than 200,000 events have been run on it. It's built for every kind of event (outings, leagues, clubs, charity days) rather than trips in particular. Its auto-scrolling leaderboard is part of Tournament Pro ($29.99 per event), and we didn't find a live team draft.
Pick it if you want a free, proven tool that also tracks handicaps and stats all year.

BTT Golf
BTT Golf, from Beyond The Tee Golf, is a free iPhone app. It combines a trip guide (itinerary, tee times, lodging, restaurants, transport) with live scoring for match play, stroke play, Nassau and alternate shot. It tracks team points across rounds and pulls in official handicaps for net scoring.
Pick it if you want the itinerary and the scorecard in one free app and everyone's on iPhone.

Google Sheets (or any spreadsheet)
A shared spreadsheet is free, endlessly flexible and familiar to everyone, which is why most trips start there. The cost is the commissioner's time. Match-play logic, handicap strokes per hole and the settle-up math are all formulas you build and fix, and entering scores on a phone mid-round is fiddly.
Pick it if it's a small group playing one simple format and you enjoy building the sheet.
Common questions
What's the best app for a Ryder Cup-style golf trip?
It depends on what your group values. Squabbit runs multi-round Ryder Cups for free, with an AI setup assistant, handicap tracking and native apps. Sunday Singles (ours) is built around the trip: AI setup by chat (in beta), a live team draft, a TV leaderboard and who-owes-who settlement. CupTracker is a focused iPhone option, and Golf GameBook's Reds vs Blues handles up to 72 players over six rounds.
Is there a free golf trip scoring app?
Yes. Squabbit is free, with optional paid Pro tiers. BTT Golf is free on iPhone. Unknown Golf and Golf GameBook have free tiers with paid upgrades, and a spreadsheet costs nothing. Sunday Singles is free for your first round, for up to 80 players; after that you pay once per trip, priced by size.
Do I need everyone to download an app?
Not always. Sunday Singles is a web app. Squabbit's web version lets players score with no download or account, and Unknown Golf offers scoring on its website with a free account. Golf Genius's help guide asks players to download its app to enter scores, and CupTracker and BTT Golf are iPhone apps.
Squabbit or Sunday Singles: which should we use?
Choose Squabbit if you want free, a large proven platform, native apps with GPS, and handicaps tracked all year. Choose Sunday Singles if the trip is the event: a live draft, a TV leaderboard included on every trip, skins that carry across rounds, an Order of Merit, and settle-up links including Interac for Canadian groups. Both let players score without downloading anything. Our first round is free, so you can try it before deciding.
How much do golf trip scoring apps cost?
As of October 18, 2026: Golf Genius Trip Manager is $149 per trip (up to 36 players and 12 rounds). Squabbit is free, with Tournament Pro at $29.99 per event or $99.99 a year. CupTracker event unlocks run $24.99 to $99.99, and Unknown+ is $49.99 a year. Sunday Singles is free for the first round, then a one-time price per trip: $20 up to 8, $30 up to 16, $50 up to 32, $100 up to 80 players (USD).
Is a spreadsheet good enough for a golf trip?
For a small group playing simple stroke play, often yes. It gets painful once you add match play, handicap strokes per hole, skins carryovers and the end-of-trip settle-up. That's where a scoring app earns its keep.
